The Social Network & My Generation
an open letter to my friend Peter Travers

Peter,

Hey man! So, I finally watched The Social Network the other night, and today I read your review of it, curious about your claim that this film defines my generation. First let me say, I agree that…

I’m so glad my order for a great class at Samantha was at least half received, and I’m glad I met all the lil’uns so I can make a plan for how to work with them! I’m grateful I got on Facebook when I did and found out about the Tues-date - I was really craving a drink after my class, and the buzz only made me more grateful and excited to be in Moscow! I’m also grateful for the frozen balcony cake, from the top of which I had to brush off 3 inches of beautiful white fluffy snow before I brought it in!

I’m already up past my bedtime, so here goes my intentions for tomorrow:

Tomorrow,

- I’ll have breakfast

- I’ll understand every word in Music class

- I’ll get to chapter 8 in Back in the USSR by Artemy Troitsky

- I’ll work on my fashion direction for 2011!

- I’ll eat some vegetables!!!!

- I’ll straighten my hair, even!

Teaching my first full day of classes at Samantha tomorrow

I will get there with a little time to spare, I will meet my ten year olds, and I will be SO happy I worked out my lesson plans tonight, because we will have plenty of activities to fill up the hour and fifteen minutes, and we will laugh together and I will feel like I imparted some form of English-learnin’ wisdom on the little’uns!

Wolves...

funniest thing ever.

Chris on Frat Pledges:

  • Chris: wow, someone nearby is trying to join a frat
  • Chris: I'm dropping eaves
  • Chris: sounds intesnse
  • Chris: the guy told the kid to look at the document, think about it, sleep on it, then look at it again in the morning before signing
  • Chris: "I don't want you to kill yourself over this"

I’m pretty grateful today…

I am so grateful that I got out of my bad mood! I am so grateful I’ve been drinking so much water! I am so grateful that I finished ALL my homework tonight! I am so grateful I’m feeling so bouncy! I am so grateful I showered after class and feel nice and clean! I am so grateful I wrote my lesson plans and feel less stressed about teaching! I am so grateful I rewarded myself with Russian torte! I am so grateful that Chris and I are having a fun conversation! I am so grateful I am posting on this new tumblr! I am so grateful I found all these neat new blogs! I’m so grateful I’ve been trying to learn to meditate! I am so grateful I’ve had time to read about Egypt! I’m so grateful that I am excited about Wax Cylinders again! I’m so grateful for Friday night! I’m so grateful that I’m FINALLY unpacked and my bed is made and looks super inviting! I’m so grateful that I’m about to get in it!

I am SO in love with this album.

I think this is the best album Bright Eyes has ever made, and considering my fanaticism for Bright Eyes, that’s saying a lot.

Bad News...

“The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your involvement will never be lost on any of us and we are truly grateful.”
